Professor Dr. André van Zundert, MD, DM, PhD, MSc, FHEA, FRCA, FASRA, FRSM, EDRA, FANZCA, is a distinguished figure in the field of anesthesiology. In 2024, he was honored with the Australian Medical Association’s ‘Excellence in Healthcare Award’ and the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists’ ‘ANZCA MEDAL Award’. He serves as the Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology in Brisbane, QLD, Australia, at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and The University of Queensland. Additionally, he chairs the RBWH/University of Queensland’s Centre for Excellence & Innovation in Anaesthesia and the RBWH Burns, Trauma, Critical Care Research Centre.
Dr. van Zundert is a prolific author with 530 scientific articles, 8 standard textbooks, and 80 book chapters to his name. His scientific metrics include an h-index of 55, an i10-index of 177, and 14,500 citations. He has delivered 850 international lectures and authored numerous guidelines in anesthesia.
