Abstract submissions now open!

You are invited to submit an abstract for the 15th World Congress of Nurse Anaesthetists (WCNA26)

Before preparing your abstract submission – be sure to read the below information carefully. 

Abstract guidelines

To assist the Program Committee in deciding if your abstract will be selected for the final program, please ensure you adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The maximum word count for abstracts is 500 words
  • The abstract title is not included in the overall word count
  • Abstracts must be uploaded in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Any included images/tables/graphs are not included in the overall word count
  • Abstracts must be written in the congress language – English
  • Must be written in the format: Background/purpose, methods, results, conclusion 
  • Case reports: must be written in the format: introduction, symptoms/signs/diagnosis/event, treatment, follow up
  • Abstracts must be submitted using the online submission portal (emailed submissions will not be accepted)
  • Submitters can indicate a presentation preference, however this is not guaranteed
  • The submitting author must ensure that all co-authors have approved all content details prior to submission
  • Ensure submission information is entered carefully, information will be published exactly as submitted


Does WCNA26 accept encore presentations?

Yes, we do accept encore presentations with the below conditions:

  • Encore presentations are permitted as long as work has not previously been published
  • Encore submissions are required to disclose the name and date of the event where it has been presented

It is important to note that original abstracts are strongly recommended.

What is an encore presentation?

An encore presentation is one where you have already presented/published the submitted work before. For example if you have presented the work at another event.

If you are submitting an encore abstract – you need to advise where this was previously presented/published during the submission process.

Abstract categories

The 15th World Congress of Nurse Anaesthetists  offers the below categories for submissions. 

Carefully review the abstract categories before submitting and determine the one that is most appropriate for your submission. 

  • Case report
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Invention / innovation
  • Qualitative research
  • Quality improvement
  • Quantitative research

Presentation types

In 2026, the following presentation types will be available. During the submission process you can indicate your presentation preference. 

  • Free communication
  • Poster presentation
  • Either a free communication or poster presentation


Please note that while you are able to indicate your presentation preference, this is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the Program Committee. 

Abstract review information

  • All submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed (blind review) by the WCNA26 Program Committee
  • Incomplete abstracts or abstracts not written in English cannot be processed and will not be reviewed
  • No revisions to submissions possible after the submission deadline – no exceptions

Terms and conditions | Conditions of acceptance

All abstract submitters are required to agree to the below terms and conditions prior to submitting their work:

  • Submitting author hereby commits with the present data protection and privacy policy
  • Submitting authors declare that the submission is the original work of at least one author/presenter
  • No funding is provided to accepted presenters. Accepted presenters acknowledge they must register, pay and attend the congress for their work to be included in the official program
  • Submitting authors must declare the work described in the abstract has appropriate approval under local, ethical and animal experimentation rules
  • Submitting authors must declare that their work does not conflict with any existing copyright agreements with alternate publishers
  • Submitting authors must declare that they have read and understood the encore presentation stipulations and this abstract adheres to them
  • Submitting authors provide consent for their presentation materials to be used to assist with promoting WCNA 2026, future WCNA congresses and on-demand content
