Kasey Irwin, RN / PhD Candidate

Kasey is a perioperative nurse and PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide. She has held various leadership roles, including Nurse Consultant, Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Facilitator, Lecturer, and Elective Surgery Coordination Manager. Kasey is currently the EMR Operations Lead within a regional health network in South Australia.

In 2021, she was awarded the SAPNA Judith Berry Perioperative Nurse Excellence Award and has contributed to ACORN conference and standards review committees.

Kasey’s research explores how operating room staff engage in the design of healthcare environments. Her findings provide insights from end users on the design of the built environment, highlighting the importance of collaborative design processes in creating safer and more functional operating room spaces.
