Richard Henker PhD, CRNA, FAANA, FAAN is a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. He is recognized globally for his work in patient safety, perioperative care, and health systems strengthening in resource-limited settings. As the AANA representative and Vice President of the Permanent Council for the Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma and Anesthesia Care, he advocates for surgical and anesthesia care equity worldwide. Dr. Henker has led Health Volunteers Overseas anesthesia programs in Laos, Bhutan, Cambodia, and Belize. An accomplished educator, researcher and mentor, he has chaired over 70 doctoral projects and held academic appointments across Asia in China, Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand.
