Thorunn Scheving Eliasdottir, PhD, MS, CRNA, is an Associate Professor and Director of Nurse Anesthesia and Operating Room Postgraduate Programs at the Faculty of Nursing within the School of Health Science at the University of Iceland. She also holds the position of Academic Chair of Nurse Anesthesia and Operating Room Nursing at Landspítali, the National University Hospital of Iceland, and the University of Iceland. Eliasdottir completed her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and postgraduate diploma in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Iceland, followed by a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from Columbia University in New York. She then earned a Ph.D in Nursing and Health Science, and a Dipl. Ed in Teaching Studies for Higher Education from the University of Iceland. With years of experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, she has worked at Landspítali, the University Hospital in Iceland, and the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Since 2016, she has been a member of the Education Committee for the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA) and has served as its co-chair and chair since 2022. Her research interests and scholarly publications are focused on retinal oximetry and systemic oxygen levels. Dr. Eliasdottir is also keen on promoting international collaboration among Nurse Anesthetists and enhancing patient care worldwide.
