Amy Yerdon has been a Nurse Anesthetist since 2011 and started precepting nurse anesthesia students within the first six months of the profession. She served as Site Coordinator, responsible for the clinical education of all student nurse anesthetists training at her hospital from 2018 to 2021, when she transitioned to academia. She continues to teach students clinically each week. Nurse anesthetists graduate from their programs as competent anesthesia providers but are not formally taught how to teach others. Yet, newly graduated Nurse Anesthetists are often expected to precept students within their first year of practice. This fueled Amy’s desire to help practicing Nurse Anesthetists learn strategies for effective clinical teaching to help facilitate student learning. She has disseminated lessons learned and evidence-based strategies at the local, state, regional, and national levels in the United States.
