Workshop 9: Crisis Management scenarios

Overview

This workshop will use principles of simulation-based mastery learning to help participants plan implementation of crisis management simulations at their home facility to improve patient outcomes. Participants will practice their crisis management skills during two hands-on healthcare crisis simulations using cognitive aids. Debriefing will focus on formative assessment for learning to improve team performance which improves patient outcomes. Active participation by attendees is encouraged. Having fun is MANDATORY.

Learning Objectives

1. Attendees will be able to implement a mastery learning based crisis simulations.
2. Attendees will support the use of cognitive aids in their simulations.
3. Attendees will develop a crisis management simulation series for their own facility based on available resources.
