Overview
This workshop offers an opportunity to enhance both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in two critical areas of advanced airway management: double-lumen endotracheal tube (DLT) intubation and the emerging technique of using video supraglottic airway devices (video-SADs).
Participants will revisit essential anatomy and physiology, as well as indications for DLT use and strategies for single-lung ventilation and preoperative assessment. The session will cover the selection and differentiation between left- and right-sided tubes, the required equipment, preparation of both the patient and the environment, intubation techniques, intraoperative management, and postoperative care.
The workshop will also introduce the video-SAD technique, examining the complications commonly associated with direct SAD insertion and discussing the rationale, benefits, and limitations of video-assisted approaches. Hands-on practice will focus on safe insertion and effective management of video-SADs.
By the end of this session, attendees will have refreshed their theoretical foundations and developed practical skills to support safer and more effective airway management in complex clinical scenarios.
